What we collect

We have no user accounts and we don't sell anything. The question tool on our Ask page runs entirely in your browser: nothing you type there is sent to us or stored by us unless you choose to email it. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.

Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, in server logs used for security and keeping the site running.

Why we use it

We use emails only to reply to you and, with your permission, to improve our FAQ (without naming you). Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in answering enquiries and running a secure website.

How long we keep it

Emails are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our host, normally no longer than 90 days.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site and email, under contracts that protect it, or where the law requires.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its use, and request a copy in a portable format. Email us to make a request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
